The Civil Service Regional Office VI welcomes its new Regional Director, Director IV Nelson G. Sarmiento who assumed office on June 17, 2019. Director IV Sarmiento started his career at the Civil Service Commission in 1989 at the office of then CSC Chairperson Patricia Sto. Tomas. He afterwards transferred to the Social Security System (SSS) for five years, and spent the next fifteen years of his career in the private sector. On November 2003, he rejoined the Civil Service Commission as Special Investigator IV of the Office for the Legal Affairs (OLA) and subsequently with the Examination Recruitment and Placement Office (ERPO) in the CSC Central Office. In 2004, he was conferred the Career Executive Office Eligibility (CEO) after passing the Career Service Executive Officer Examination (CSEE).
In 2006, he was appointed as Director II and assigned at Iloilo Field Office and Concurrent Head of the Guimaras Field Office. Subsequently, he became the Provincial Director of Oriental Mindoro, Batangas, and Rizal Field Offices in Southern Tagalog. On November 12, 2012, the Commission appointed him as Acting Director IV of CSC Region I and on June 24, 2014, he was appointed as a full-fledged Director IV.
In his message at his first Monday Convocation at the CSC RO VI held on, June 24, 2019, Director IV Sarmiento enjoined the support of CSC RO VI employees and officials to continually uphold excellence and integrity which are among the Agency’s core values. He also advocated for a “stress-free” atmosphere in the workplace by emphasizing the value of teamwork and collaboration.
Director IV Nelson G. Sarmiento is a native of Guimbal, Iloilo. He now resides in Marikina City and is married to Jo Anne Santos Salvador with whom they have three (3) children: Quino Angelo, Jose Miguel, and Celina Gracia.
Prior to this assignment, Director IV Sarmiento served as Regional Director of CSC Region III. He succeeded Director IV Rodolfo B. Encajonado who was reassigned to head the Human Resource Policies and Standards Office (HRPSO), CSC Central Office, Diliman, Quezon City.
