CSC RO VI reiterates its call to heads of government offices to participate and support  activities in line with the Philippines’ Chairmanship of ASEAN 2017 and celebration of its 50th anniversary.

It can be recalled that the CSC issued Memorandum Circular No. 6, s. 2016 enjoining heads of agencies to participate in the information campaign and conduct programs and activities such as the posting of the ASEAN IEC materials in their agency’s website, displaying of the ASEAN Community Banner, singing of the ASEAN Anthem in the first flag ceremony of the month, and sharing of information on ASEAN during said flag-raising ceremony and other employee fora to help raise awareness among their officials and staff.

The CSC also issued Memorandum Circular No. 7, s. 2017 reminding heads of offices of their compliance with CSC MC No. 6, s. 2016 and encouraging them to take the information campaign further through measures that would heighten awareness of ASEAN, such as the posting of the ASEAN 2017 streamers/banners in conspicuous places within the agency premises, playing of the theme song, “ASEAN Spirit” during agency events and activities, wearing of the national attire of any ASEAN Member State during flag-raising ceremony and in activities of the agency requiring formal attire, and conducting appropriate activities to commemorate the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN that will involve agency officials and employees, its stakeholders and clients.

Government officials and employees are also encouraged to “like’’ the official ASEAN 2017 Facebook page and follow the Instagram/ twitter account #ASEAN2017 for the latest updates on ASEAN 2017.

On the other hand, the Regional Association of National Government Executives (RANGE) Region VI where CSC RO VI Regional Director Rodolfo B. Encajonado is currently the President, will spearhead a Multi-Sectoral forum on ASEAN on August 8, 2017, 8:00AM, at the West Visayas State University Cultural Center, Iloilo City. Said activity aims to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of ASEAN and will be held in partnership with West Visayas State University and the Philippine Information Agency RO VI. Heads of agencies and their staff are encouraged to attend said forum and wear any ASEAN-inspired traditional costume. Those who are unable to attend the forum are also encouraged to wear any ASEAN-inspired traditional costume in their respective offices on August 8 in commemoration of the ASEAN founding anniversary.
